Rooted in rigorous material exploration, my artistic practice toys with concepts of familiarity, functionality, and value.  Repetition and accumulation are recurring themes, as are juxtapositions between graphic and textural, playful and restrained, familiar and strange.  Ubiquity and whimsy have emerged as critical elements in my work.  I’m interested in examining the potency that, for me, is inherent in ubiquitous objects and materials, common items that possess the unique quality of being easily recognizable and readily understood, while simultaneously laden with history, memory, and narrative.  The playful nature of my work often enters the realm of the absurd, a peculiarity evident in the materials and the process as well as the final form.
